PREVIEW: Chipola women & men head to Panama City for the Richard Sanders Classic
Both Chipola Basketball teams will be in action at Gulf Coast State College this weekend.
PANAMA CITY, Florida – The Chipola women's and men's basketball team will travel to Panama City this weekend to play in the Richard Sanders Fall Classic presented by Visit Panama City Beach. All games will be played at the Billy Harrison Fieldhouse on the campus of Gulf Coast State College.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Admission to the games each day is $5. There is no live streaming available for Chipola games but fans can keep up with in-game updates on each team's X.com (Twitter) page. Final scores will be posted on all social media accounts and will be sent to anyone has signed up for the Chipola Athletics text messaging service.

FRIDAY PREVIEW
Chipola Lady Indians (1-0) vs Daytona State (1-1), Noon
The Lady Indians (1-0) opened their season last Monday in Mobile, Alabama with an 82-66 win over Bishop State Community College.
Kanija Daniel led Chipola with 14 points in the win followed by Aniyah Ruddock and Jailynn Brill who each chipped in 9.
The Lady Indians led by as many as 30 in the game as Coach Mitch Rolls, who won his first game at the helm, played thirteen players in the game. 12 of the 13 contributed in the points column.
Chipola's opponent on Friday, Daytona State, split a pair of games on opening weekend. Playing in the Battle on Beach Blvd on the campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville, the Falcons lost their opening game to Palm Beach State College, 97-86, but rallied the next day to take down the host team, FSCJ, 70-67.
Freshman Destinie Gordon averaged 14.5 points in the two games. The Falcons only returner from a season ago, Kyajia Stewart, averaged 13.0.
#10 Chipola Indians (1-1) vs. East Central CC, 4 PM
After starting the season with a 69-57 win over Albany Tech on the first night of the Milton H. Johnson Classic, the #10 Indians fell to Southwest Mississippi the next day by the same score.
Sophomore returner Markel Freeman led Chipola in scoring both games and averaged 13.5 points on the weekend.
Playing in his first collegiate game, Justin Burns, had a double-double on Friday against the Titans. Burns contributed 11 points in the win and hauled in 15 rebounds.
Chipola's opponent on Friday in Panama City, the Warriors from East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi, started their season with a pair of wins over a pair of post-graduate programs.
The Braves defeated Florida Coastal Prep, 88-55, on Friday, November 1 then followed that up with a 100-61 win over Baton Rouge Post Grad on Monday.
East Central returns 6 players from last year's team that finished 13-18 on the season, including their leading scorer from a year ago, Corey Rogers (15.1 ppg)
