Weekend Preview: #4 Indians take on Southern Union & Miami-Dade

The #4 Chipola Indians (6-1) are back in action this weekend as part of a four-team tournament with Southern Union, Miami-Dade, and Northwest Florida.

The Indians are back at home for the first time since November 6 following four games on the road. Playing in Melbourne, Florida and Rome, Georgia the last two weekends, Chipola posted a 3-1 record. The only loss for the Indians was in their first game of the road trip. In overtime, Eastern Florida State hit a 3-point buzzer beater from near mid-court to defeat the Indians, 73-71. Chipola went on to defeat FCSAA/Region VIII opponents Santa Fe and State College of Florida then finished off the road swing with a 102-64 win over Georgia Highlands.

Southern Union Preview

The Bison from Wadley, Alabama come into Saturday's contest with a 2-2 record. In their most recent game, Southern Union was defeated by Enterprise State, 89-87.

Southern Union is averaging 77.0 points per game and shooting 41.3% from the field. They are led by sophomore guard Jarden Maze who is averaging 18.0 ppg and sophomore forward Destin Eke, averaging 17.5 ppg.

The Indians, who are ranked first in the FCSAA/Region VII poll and fourth in the NJCAA rankings, will be looking to extend their 19 game home win streak at The Milt.

Miami-Dade Preview

The Indians will take on the Sharks on Sunday at 4 PM inside Raider Arena on the campus of Northwest Florida State College.

Miami-Dade is 4-3 on the season, having won their last three games. They are led by a trio of sophomores averaging 16 or more points per game - D'Monte Brown (16.7 ppg), Marco Downer (16.0 ppg), and Khalil Turner (16.0 ppg).
