Dear Loyal Supporter,

A new school year is rapidly approaching and that means it won’t be long before we are back on the court for Chipola Men’s & Women’s Basketball or on the diamond for Chipola Softball & Baseball. It also means it is time for the annual Appreciation Club Membership Drive.

Here are some of the new and exciting things we have in store for the 2023-2024 version of Chipola Athletics:

  • The Ronnie Myers Appreciation Club Room in the Milton H. Johnson Center will have a new look once basketball season begins. Both areas in the room will become a “museum” for Chipola Athletics that will not only give us a look back to our past but also provide a blueprint for our future success.
  • The Lobby of the Milton H. Johnson Center will be a celebration of our basketball championships. Once someone enters the front doors of “The Milt,” Chipola Nation, and our guests, will fully understand the legacy of championships that has been established here.
  • A new way to stay connected. Many of you remember the Hotline where you could call in and get scores and updates about Chipola Athletics. Now you can receive text messages that will give you this information and more. We have partnered with Vozzi, a company used by many professional and NCAA teams, so you can get final scores, special event notices, game changes/cancellations and more. Chipola is THE FIRST AND ONLY NJCAA ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT to use Vozzi. To enroll, be sure to include your cell number (and other numbers of family members) on your registration card.
  • Save the Date: Chipola Men’s Basketball Alumni Weekend, November 17-18. More details about this event will be sent out at a later date.
  • John Marcum Era of Chipola Women’s Basketball begins. The Lady Indians will hit the floor this season under the 7th head coach in program history, John Marcum. Coach Marcum has 18 years of coaching experience at various levels and has recruited in the Panhandle while coaching at NCAA Division One schools, Syracuse, Butler, Grand Canyon, East Carolina, and Indiana State.
  • And of course, new faces in Chipola uniforms. Each year a new crop of talented athletes will represent Chipola Nation. These players, along with our veterans from a season ago, will be working hard to add to our many Panhandle, FCSAA, and NJCAA championships.

For the second consecutive year, we collected more money in membership dues. This has helped to continue assisting with scholarships and meals for our athletes as well as providing our coaching with the best tools to recruit and develop our players. Many of you also give to various projects and events above your membership dues to help our student-athletes. We greatly appreciate what everyone does to contribute to the Championship Legacy at Chipola College.

Enclosed, you will find an Appreciation Club brochure listing the benefits of our membership levels. To recommit, simply visit www.ChipolaAthletics.com/support/AppreciationClubMembership or tear off and send in the registration card attached to the brochure along with your payment. Please be sure you include all of the information so we can send you updates about games and events. If you have any questions, please contact John Rushing, Assistant Athletic Director, at 850-718-2398 or RushingJ@chipola.edu.

Sincerely,

Jeff Johnson
