The No. 4 Chipola Lady Indians continued to roll through Panhandle Conference competition Saturday night at home with perhaps their most dominant effort to date, crushing the Tallahassee Eagles 61-22.

It was the 12th straight win overall for the Lady Indians, who moved to 7-0 in conference play.

Evelyn Akhator had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Chipola, but it was the defense that dominated the most, limiting TCC to a season-low 22 points – the previous low being 42 in the first game against Chipola on Jan. 14 – on 23 percent shooting from the field and 1-of-20 from the three-point line.

Chipola also forced the Eagles into 27 turnovers compared to just eight for the Lady Indians, who blew the game wide open with a 25-0 run that spanned over 12 minutes of the first half.

The game was tied 7-7 after a three-pointer from Marija Pacar with 14:44 on the clock, but the Eagles didn't score again until a free throw by Jasmine Queen with 2:27 to halftime.

The Lady Indians took the lead for good on a trey from Tiffany Lewis, with a bank shot by Sue Key, a steal and layup from Akhator, a driving bucket by Janisha Lindsey, and another by Akhator pushing the lead to double digits at 18-7.

After another Akhator basket, Lindsey scored on a drive to the basket and drew a foul, and moments later came up with a steal and dished to Akhator for another hoop to make it 25-7 with 5:09 to halftime.

Baskets by Ebony Wells and Brianna Wright increased the margin to 23 points and a three-pointer from Rahni Bell capped off the run to make it 32-7 with 2:46 on the clock.

A two-point jumper from Addesha Collins finally gave the Eagles another made field goal with six seconds left in the first half, but Chipola answered by scoring the first seven points of the second half to go up by 29.

TCC never got closer than 25 in the second half.

Bell added nine points on three triples for Chipola, with Wells adding eight points, while Khadijah Ellison led the Lady Indians with eight assists to just two turnovers.

Chipola (23-1) will next take on Northwest Florida State (19-3 overall, 6-1 in the Panhandle) on Wednesday in a huge conference game that could put the Lady Indians in commanding position to win the league.

TCC (12-13, 3-5) also plays Northwest next with a Saturday road contest.
