#10 Lady Indians take two on the road at TCC

The #10 Lady Indians swept a doubleheader at Tallahassee Community College on Tuesday to move to 4-2 in Panhandle Conference play and 30-4 overall.

Game 1: Chipola 9, Tallahassee 3

Marley Sims and Jadyn Burney sit at the top of the lineup for Coach Kelly Brookins and on Tuesday, the pair led the Lady Indians to a 9-3 victory. Each of the Chipola middle infielders were 3-for-4 on the day, collecting more than half of the team's hits in game one.

Zayla McBurrows pitched four innings to get her twelfth win of the season. McBurrows struck out three while giving up two runs on four hits and one walk.

Riley Reese threw three innings in relief to pick up her first save of the year. Reese allowed a run on four hits while striking out two.

Game 2: Chipola 8, Tallahassee 0

Landyn McAnnally allowed just two hits in a shutout win over Tallahassee in game two of the doubleheader against Tallahassee. McAnnally struck out four and walked one en route to her ninth win of the season.

In game two, Lady Indians duplicated their 11-hit performance from the first game. Janelle Martinez was 3-for-3 and had 2 RBI to lead the Chipola onslaught.

The bottom of the lineup also provided a lot of the production for the Lady Indians. Sierra Jevyak, hitting in the sixth position, was 2-for-3 with an RBI. The Chipola seventh hitter, Olivia Sasser, was 1-for-3 with an RBI and walked once.

The last two hitters in the lineup, Hannah Atwood and Kamari Strozier, each picked up two hits with Atwood also collecting four RBI.

Next up: The Lady Indians will continue with conference play when they host #13 Gulf Coast (31-7; 2-2 PC) on Saturday for a doubleheader. The Lady Commodores defeated the Lady Indians in the fourth game of last weekend's Panhandle Round Robin, 5-1. First pitch in game one from the Chipola Softball Field is set for Noon.
