#6 Indians move to 6-0 with 85-57 win over South Georgia Tech

The #6 Chipola Indians moved to 6-0 on the season after a dismantling of South Georgia Tech at The Milt on Tuesday evening. Six different players scored in double-digits, led by sophomore Deyton Albury with 15, in the 85-57 win.

The two teams exchanged leads six times in the first half but a jumper in the lane by Derrick Butler put the Indians up 25-23 with seven minutes remaining in the first half.

On the next Jets' possession, Jerald Colonel picked up one of his eight block shots on the night, energizing the Milton H. Johnson Center crowd, which did not go unnoticed from the head coach.

"Our fans were great tonight and there was a lot of energy in the gym," said Coach Donnie Tyndall. "It was a nice turnout for a midweek game."

"Our student section was great and I really appreciate our softball, women's basketball, and baseball teams coming out. It gives our team a lot of energy."

A technical foul on the other end of the court against the Jets sent Jamil Safieddine to the line, who converted on both for a 27-23 lead.

Chipola continued their momentum the remainder of the half and went to the locker room with a 41-27 lead.

To start the second half, Chipola held the Jets scoreless for nearly four minutes while building their lead to 52-27. Albury and Colonel combined for the points in the 11-0 run.

Chipola stretched their lead to as many as 31 over the Jets with just over a minute to play in the game before coming away with the 85-57 victory.

Butler, Safieddine, and Curry finished the game with 12 points. Colonel and Kendall Moore contributed 10.
