Indians Suffer First Loss of Season

Tonight in Ocala, Chipola suffered their first defeat of the season with an 86-85 overtime loss to Central Florida.

After trailing by 11, the Indians fought back to take the lead with four minutes to go. It was back and forth for the remainder of the game, which is where many of the 13 lead changes and nine ties took place. In overtime, Chipola held a one point lead before the Patriots converted a three-point play with a made bucket and free throw with only 6.2 seconds to go. The Indians couldn't convert as the clock ran out.

Chipola shot only 52% from the line, down from their season average of 75%. Several of those missed free throws came at costly times as the Indians tried to extend their lead.

Yuat Alok led Chipola with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Shamarkus Kennedy had 17 points and 9 rebounds. TJ Howard scored 14 points and CJ Williamson added 13 points and 7 rebounds. JJ Miles had 6 assists in the contest.

The Indians move to 6-1 on the season. They will face St. Petersburg tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. CST in Ocala.
