Indians Fall in Championship Game

Chipola fell 92-67 to conference rivals Northwest Florida State in tonight's Region 8 championship game. The outing was the fourth time the teams met this season.

The Indians came out of the gate strong, leading 16-3 early in the first half. However, the Raiders made a run, got hot offensively, and out-rebounded Chipola in the first half. The Indians trailed at half 39-28. 

The second half was all Raiders, as they shot 65% from the field. They also out-rebounded the Indians 44-31 on the game.

Chipola shot only 38% on the game and was led by Keishawn Brewton, who had 22 points and eight rebounds. Brewton also led the team in steals with four. JJ Miles added in 13 points and Brandon Mahan scored 10 points. Shamarkus Kennedy led the team in rebounds with 10. He also had nine points and four blocks.

Chipola is now 22-8 on the season, winning five straight before tonight's loss. The Indians will await the release of the 24-team bracket on NJCAA Selection Monday to see if they have gained an at-large bid to the NJCAA tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.
