Indians Clinch Trip to Region 8 Tournament

The Indians clinched second place in the Panhandle Conference and a trip to the Region 8 tournament with a 66-61 win over Pensacola State tonight. 

Despite shooting only 37% from the field, including 9% from behind the arc, Chipola had four players in double figures. Shamarkus Kennedy led the Indians in scoring with 17 points. CJ Williamson added in 16 points and eight rebounds. Point guard TJ Howard had a well-rounded game with 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Freshman Keishawn Brewton scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds. 

The Indians will host Gulf Coast State in their final regular season game of the year this Saturday, February 24, at 7:30 PM CST. The game is a Pink Cares game, where fans are encouraged to wear pink and a portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Pink Cares cause. Chipola will also honor their sophomores between the women's and men's game. Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for adults and $2 for 12 and under. Students and Appreciation Club members receive free entry. 

As the second Panhandle Conference team, the Indians will play on Wednesday, March 7 at 8:00 p.m. EST/7:00 p.m. CST for the Region 8 tournament in Ocala, Florida. They will face the Mid-Florida conference champions.
