Chipola Hangs On to Beat East Georgia State

The Indians won a hard-fought battle against East Georgia State in day two of the South Georgia Tech Classic with a final score of 82-81.

While Chipola led at halftime, they found themselves down halfway through the second half. The Indians then retook the lead and held on to it until the clock expired. However, East Georgia State didn't make that an easy task as they continued to hit shots to keep it a one-possession game down the stretch. Point guard Jahshire Hardnett hit a big shot with time winding down and Deyshawn Martin had a monster block at the buzzer.

In addition, Martin recorded his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Hardnett led the Indians in scoring with 20 points.

Coach Bret Campbell was happy with the victory and how his team fought during some adversity.

"Our team really came together to earn a tough fought victory vs. East Georgia," he said. "Jahshire made a big shot with 4 seconds to go, which was followed by a huge block by Deyshawn at the buzzer."

"Deyshawn was instrumental with his second double-double of the season and Jahshire made big baskets going down the stretch to go with his 20 points. I hope this close victory will be a push in the right direction," he continued.

The Indians are back on the road next weekend with two games in Fort Myers, Florida. They will play Friday, Dec. 2nd at 6:00 p.m. ET vs. Miami Dade and Saturday, Dec. 3rd at 2:00 p.m. ET vs. Florida Southwestern.
