Friday night's match-up against San Jacinto might be just what the Chipola Indians have been looking for to turn things around in this young season. Thanks to a buzzer beater shot by Kevin Scott, Chipola pulled out its second win of the year, 81-79.

"This was a big win for us," said Indian head coach Patrick Blake. "Especially given the adversity we've faced so far this season."

Chipola started out with a win over Atlanta Metro for its first game, but then lost four straight, going into the game against San Jacinto 1-4.

The lead was tossed back and forth throughout, but particularly in the first half, until the Indians got into foul trouble pretty early on. This allowed the Ravens a small run that put them up at the half, 47-40.

In the third quarter, Chipola exploded into a 21-2 run taking back the lead, 61-49. But the Ravens weren't giving up yet. Just then, San Jacinto guard Willie Mangum hit three 3-pointers from way outside that cut the lead significantly.

Later in the game, with just 36 seconds remaining, the Ravens were up one, and tried to press Indians' point guard Tra-Deon Hollins. With his 12th assist on the night, Hollins fed the ball to Junior Saintel, who put it up for two and reversed the one point lead in the Indians' favor.

However, with only 5 seconds remaining, and as was characteristic of the night for the Indians, Chipola sent San Jacinto to the line, shooting two. San Jacinto made only one of the free throws, however, and the game was tied.

Chipola then inbounded the ball to Dejuan Marrero, who kicked it to Scott. Scott then drove the length of the court to about 15 feet from the basket, where despite the defender's hand in his face, he hit the game winning field goal at the buzzer to make the 81-79 final.

"We can enjoy it for now, but we got to do it again tomorrow," said Blake. "We need to use this game as momentum and be prepared for another 40-minute battle."

Scott led the Indians with 23 points. Marrero had 17 points and 17 rebounds, and Hollins added 16 of his own, in addition to his 12 assists
