Chipola Basketball Begins Conference Play

Chipola Basketball Begins Conference Play

After a long holiday break, Chipola opens conference play Saturday, Jan. 4 at Pensacola.  All Conference games will be broadcast on WJAQ-100.9 FM and on the web at PSBLIVE.com.

Chipola Basketball will return home on Tuesday, Jan. 7th to host Gulf Coast in a showdown of Panhandle Conference rivals.  The women’s game tips off at 5:30pm, while the men’s game is slated for 7:30pm.

For the first time in the history of Chipola Women’s Basketball, Coach Franklin’s team ascended all the way to an NJCAA #1 ranking earlier this season.  The 16-1 Lady Indians will look to begin their quest for Chipola’s first Panhandle Conference title in women’s basketball since 1993.

On the men’s side, Coach Blake has guided the Indians to a 14-1 non-conference record.  Battling through adversity and injuries, the high-octane Indians are averaging over 90 points per game.  Already committed to four-year universities, the Indians boost a sophomore led team of Cinmeon Bowers (Florida State), Sam Cassell, Jr. (Connecticut), Carlos Morris (Minnesota), and Demetrious Floyd (Stephen F. Austin).  Sophomore Torian Graham is being heavily recruited by Kentucky, Cincinnati, UNLV, Missouri, and Florida among others.
