Indians Suffer First Loss of Season

Saturday's game against Walters State was a heartbreaker for Chipola College Indians Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with Walters State batting in the top of the ninth when Michael Robinson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Walters State opened up scoring in the second inning. Walters State scored two runs when Parker Stinnett singled.

In the top of the fifth inning, Walters State tied things up at three when Jerry Hammons singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Chipola College Indians Varsity tallied three runs in the third inning. Chipola College Indians Varsity scored its runs on an RBI double by Andre Tarver.

Jarrod Culp was the winning pitcher for Walters State. He surrendered zero runs on four hits over six innings, striking out six.

Michael Cullen took the loss for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking one.

Ben Joyce started the game for Walters State. He surrendered three runs on three hits over three innings, striking out four Dylan Eskew started the game for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He lasted three innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one

Tarver led Chipola College Indians Varsity with two hits in four at bats. Chipola College Indians Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Cameron Gray had the most chances in the field with 12.

Walters State tallied eight hits on the day. Stinnett and Hammons all collected multiple hits for Walters State. Walters State didn't commit a single error in the field. Max Reimer had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Indians will face San Jacinto later Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
