Indians Fall at Shelton State

Shelton State bested Chipola 10-8 in game one of the weekend series. 

The Indians collected 12 hits and Shelton State had 10 in the high-scoring affair.

Shelton State took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Garrett McMillan doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs and Jalen Parker doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Chipola scored three runs in the fourth inning. The Indians put the pressure on, lead by a single by Isaiah Byars, a groundout by Andrew Keene, and a double by Jozsef Rohrbacher.

Shelton State scored five runs in the fourth inning. Shelton State batters contributing to the big inning included Colby SmelleyMcMillanLuke Hammond, and Drake Logan, who each had RBIs in the inning.

McMillan led things off on the hill for Shelton State. He surrendered six runs on eight hits over four innings, striking out six.

Dylan Eskew toed the rubber for Chipola. He surrendered five runs on three hits over four innings, striking out two. Michael Cullen and Andrew Moore entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and one inning respectively.

The Indians collected 12 hits on the day. RohrbacherByars, and Daniel Cerda all had multiple hits for Chipola. Rohrbacher led the team with four hits in five at bats.

Shelton State racked up ten hits in the game. McMillanWalt BailySmelley, and Parker each collected multiple hits for Shelton State. McMillan went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Shelton State in hits.

The teams will face off again tomorrow at noon with a doubleheader.
