Indians Drop Two on the Day

The Indians dropped both today during their weekend classic. 

Game one: 

Chipola College Indians Varsity stayed in it until the end, but Gordon State pulled away late in a 6-4 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at four with Gordon State batting in the top of the sixth when Derek Wylie homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

In the second inning, Chipola College Indians Varsity got their offense started. Dylan Goldstein hit a solo homer.

Chipola College Indians Varsity notched three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Chipola College Indians Varsity was led by Chris Williams and Taylor Clapp, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Gordon State scored four runs in the fifth inning. Gordon State offense in the inning was led by Wylie and Sam Kuchinski, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Thomas Ross led things off on the hill for Gordon State. He allowed three hits and four runs over four and a third innings, striking out four.

Luis Guerrero was on the pitcher's mound for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He went four and a third innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out five. Michael Cullen threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Chipola College Indians Varsity smacked one home run on the day. Goldstein had a four bagger in the second inning.

Gordon State racked up eight hits in the game. Wylie and Cole Phillips all managed multiple hits for Gordon State.

Game two:

Chipola College Indians Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-3 loss to Columbia State on Saturday. Columbia State took the lead on an error in the first inning.

The Chipola College Indians Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Columbia State, giving up 11 runs.

Columbia State opened up scoring in the first inning, when an error scored one run for Columbia State.

Columbia State scored four runs in the seventh inning. The big inning for Columbia State came thanks to singles by Haven Mangrum and Steven Minter, by Cammerin Ridley, and an error on a ball put in play by Wade Richardson.

Brandon Johnson was on the mound for Columbia State. He allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six.

Dylan Eskew started the game for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He went four innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out four. Turner TomsTaylor Clapp, and Cameron Gray each contributed in relief for Chipola College Indians Varsity.

GrayCorey RosierDaniel CerdaIsaiah Byars, and Matthew Corlew each collected one hit to lead Chipola College Indians Varsity.

Minter went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Columbia State in hits.
