Indians Defeat Walters State

Both teams were strong on the mound Friday, but Chipola College Indians Varsity defeated Walters State 3-2. Chipola College Indians Varsity pitchers allowed just five hits to Walters State.

Chipola College Indians Varsity got things moving in the first inning. Chipola College Indians Varsity scored one run when Dylan Goldstein singled.

Chipola College Indians Varsity pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Taylor Clapp drew a walk, scoring one run and Chris Williams grounded out, scoring one run.

Robert Bennett got the start for Chipola College Indians Varsity. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out one and walking one.

Nolan Letzgus led things off on the hill for Walters State. He allowed six hits and three runs over four innings, striking out five. Matt Daily threw two innings in relief.

Chipola College Indians Varsity tallied six hits in the game. Goldstein and Andre Tarver each had multiple hits for Chipola College Indians VarsityTarver and Goldstein each managed two hits to lead Chipola College Indians Varsity.

Alberto Osuna led Walters State with two hits in three at bats. Walters State was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Max Reimer had the most chances in the field with five.

The Indians are back in action at home on Saturday as they take on Walters State at 10:00 a.m. CST and San Jacinto at 4:00 p.m. CST.
