Early Runs Lead to 16-5 Victory over TCC
Bowden Francis collected the win in Chipola's Panhandle Opener.
The Chipola Indians (20-4, 1-0) defeated Tallahassee 16-5 thanks to a strong start.
Chipola scored two in the first, six runs in the second inning, 1 in the third, and 3 in the fourth to to stretch its lead to 12-3.
Bowden Francis (5-1) earned the win for Chipola Indians. He pitched five innings, surrendering three runs, five hits, and striking out eight. Ryan Shauger pitched the 6th inning, collecting 2 strikeouts.
Chipola had 18 hits in the game. Brody Wofford (4 hits), Trey Dawson (3 hits), Chris Clayton (3 hits), Jose Caballero (2 hits), Andrew Bechtold (2 hits), and Te'Kwaan Whyte (2 hits) each collected multiple hits. Rivera led Chipola with three runs batted in. He went 1-for-2 on the day with 3 walks. The 6-9 spots in the order combined to go 12-19 to lead the offense.
Chipola will play next at Tallahassee on March 9 at 5pm EST / 4pm CST.
