A six-run explosion in the seventh inning hoisted the Chipola Indians (2-0) to a 10-2 win over South Florida State at Walter Fuller Park on Saturday.

The Chipola Indians scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Jose Caballero, an RBI single by Wood Myers, a walk by Jay Estes, and a three-run home run by Michael Hickman.

Maurice Cooley led the Chipola Indians' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Jackson Bellenkes got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He tossed two innings of shutout ball. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Scott Bellina ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

The Chipola Indians jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second. After Cooley singled, the Chipola Indians kept the pressure on South Florida State pitching, as Ty Russ singled, bringing home Cooley.

South Florida State scored two runs of its own in the second. South Florida State scored on an RBI double by Evan Schaffner and an RBI single by Eric Schulte.

The Chipola Indians tacked on another two runs in the eighth. A scored Myles Edwards to start the scoring in the inning.
