Chipola Falls in Championship Game

The Chipola Indians lost 6-4 on Saturday to Santa Fe in the FCSAA State Championship Game at Henley Field in Lakeland, FL. 

In the bottom of the third, the Chipola Indians grabbed the early lead, 4-0. The Chipola Indians attack began with a single from Michael RojasWood Myers singled, bringing home Maurice Cooley. More runs came home for the Chipola Indians when Estes scored on an RBI single by Michael Hickmanand Myers and Caballero scored on a two-run single by Reynaldo Rivera.

Bowden Francis got the start for Chipola, pitching into the fifth inning. 

Addison Reed (7-4) took the loss for the Chipola Indians. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.

Santa Fe scored in three consecutive innings to take the lead. Santa Fe was sparked by Cole Parks and Matt Allen, who teamed up for five hits and five RBIs. They scored two in the fifth, three in the sixth, and one in the seventh.

Chipola finishes the season at 43-16. 

Santa Fe never surrendered the lead after the sixth inning, scoring three runs on a fielder's choice and a two-run home run by Allen.
