SJR scores 4 in the first on way to win over Indians
The Chipola Indians (38-14) fell to St. Johns River 6-1 at Chipola College.
St. Johns River was sparked by Omar Villaman and Wes Weeks, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.
Bowden Francis (8-2) couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Chipola Indians, taking a loss. He pitched five innings, walked one, struck out seven, and allowed five runs.
St. Johns River never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring four runs on a three-run home run by Weeks and an RBI single by Hunter Alexander.
The Chipola Indians scored their only run of the game on an RBI single by Keiner Colmenarez in the fourth inning.
St. Johns River scored one run in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the sixth. In the fifth, St. Johns River scored on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Alexander, plating Villaman.
