Chipola on Wrong End of Walk-Off

The Chipola Indians (35-11) fell victim to a walk-off two-run blast in the bottom of the ninth inning on Saturday, handing Northwest Florida State a 8-7 win at Northwest Florida State.

With Northwest Florida State trailing by one in the ninth inning, Handsome Monica came to the plate and homered, bringing home Hunter Tackett.

Michael Hickman did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Chipola Indians, reaching base three times off the bench. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the third and seventh innings.

Landon Faulkner got the start, racking up five strikeouts. Faulkner allowed three earned runs, four hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings.

Northwest Florida State's Monica, Shawn Feltner and Hunter Tackett combined for five hits and six RBIs.

Addison Reed was charged with the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

The top of the first saw the Chipola Indians take an early lead, 1-0. The Chipola Indians' threat began with a double by Jay EstesWood Myerssingled, plating Te'Kwaan Whyte.

It didn't take long for Northwest Florida State to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the seventh. Northwest Florida State scored on a two-run single by Hunter Tackett.
