Indians Stay Hot, Beat Gulf Coast 12-1

The Chipola Indians (33-9, 12-1) jumped out to an early lead on Gulf Coast State and captured a 12-1 victory on Friday at Gulf Coast State.

With eight runs in the first three innings, the Chipola Indians left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Keiner Colmenarez, an RBI single by Tyler Osik, a groundout by Te'Kwaan Whyte, and an RBI double by Jay Estes during the second inning helped the Chipola Indians put some runs on the board early.

Reynaldo Rivera had two extra-base hits for the Chipola Indians. He doubled in the second inning and tripled in the third inning.

Bowden Francis (8-0) pitched lights out for the Chipola Indians. Gulf Coast State managed just three hits off of Francis, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Six hitters combined for 10 hits, 10 RBIs and eight runs scored.

The Chipola Indians added four more runs in the top of the third. A wild pitch scored Jose Caballero to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Rivera's triple, scoring Michael Hickman and Maurice Cooley.

Chipola plays tomorrow against Gulf Coast at home. First-pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
