Early Runs Lead to 5-3 Victory

After early lead changes in Sunday's make-up game at Tallahassee, the Chipola Indians (25-9, 4-1) finally pulled out a 5-3 win over TCC.

The top of the first saw the Indians take an early lead, 2-0. Caballero got things going with a single. Keiner Colmenarez singled with two outs, plating Caballero and Jay Estes.

Tallahassee quickly matched the strong inning with a three-run inning of its own in the first. Tallahassee scored on a two-run single by Ethan Crout and a groundout by Deyvid Silva.

The Indians bounced back and took the lead in the top of the second inning and held on for the victory. A steal of home by Jose Caballero, with two outs proved to be the game-winning run.

Caballero had a hot bat for the Chipola Indians. Caballero went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the first and ninth innings.

Addison Reed (4-0) got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked four and surrendered six hits.

Landon Faulkner worked the last 2 1/3 innings for his first save of the season. He allowed no earned runs on no hits with 3 strikeouts.

Tyler Osik was 2-3 with a walk and 1 run scored.

The Indians are back in action at home on Monday, March 21 for Game 3 against Tallahassee CC. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm CST.
