Offensive Attack Leads Indians to 18-8 Triumph

In Game 2 of the series between Chipola (23-8, 2-0) and Gulf Coast, the two teams put up 26 runs combined in a 18-8 Chipola victory.

Chipola beat Gulf Coast State thanks to 21 hits, including four extra base hits.

The Indians jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The threat began with a single by Jose Caballero. A single by Myers then moved Caballero from first to second. Jay Estes doubled, plating Caballero. Myers then scored on a sacrifice fly by Cooley.

Chipola surrendered three in the first and one in the second. The teams traded runs for the first two-and-a-half innings before Chipola started to stretch its lead. The Indians took the lead in the third inning and held on for the victory. They scored on a three-run home run by Michael Rojas off Dylan Cyphert, scoring Cooley and Tyler Osik.

The Indians put the game out of reach with a seven run eighth on a three-run home run by Maurice Cooley, a two-run single by Keiner Colmenarez, an RBI single by Wood Myers, and a sacrifice fly by Jay Estes.

Addison Reed got the start for Chipola. Riley Cabral (2-3) came in relief to get the win. Franklin Van Gurp worked one inning of relief. 

The 1 thru 5 hitters for Chipola went a combined 15-25 with 10 runs, 12 RBI's, and 2 homeruns. 

Jay Estes also had a home run. That was his fourth of the year.
