Early Start Leads to Win, 8-1

A six-run explosion in the first inning carried the Chipola Indians (18-8) to an 8-1 win in seven innings over Grand Rapids at Chipola College on Tuesday.

The Chipola Indians scored in the first on an RBI triple by Wood Myers, an RBI single by Jay Estes, an RBI double by Michael Hickman, an RBI single by Reynaldo Rivera, a groundout by Michael Rojas, and an RBI single byKeiner Colmenarez.

Myers put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Chipola Indians.

Riley Cabral got the win for the Chipola Indians. He tossed six innings of shutout ball. He struck out eight, walked none and surrendered four hits.

The Chipola Indians' Jay Estes, Myers, Colmenarez and Michael Hickman combined for 11 hits and five RBIs.

The Chipola Indians increased their lead with two runs in the fourth. The inning looked promising, as Michael Hickman singled, scoring Myers to kick things off. That was followed up by Rivera's single, bringing home Jay Estes.
