Chipola Falls 6-3

A tight game was decided in the seventh inning as the Chipola Indians (16-5) fell to Darton State 6-3 in seven innings on Saturday at Chipola College.

Keiner Colmenarez had a hot bat for the Chipola Indians. Colmenarez went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning.

Riley Cabral was charged with the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

The top of the second saw Darton State take an early lead, 2-0. Darton State got things going when John Cable singled. A single by Tyler Morris then moved Cable from first to second. Darton State pushed more runs across when Morris scored on a sacrifice fly by Cody Ilgenfritz.

One of the Chipola Indians baserunners came all the way around to score in each of the second, third and fourth. In the second, the Chipola Indians scored on an RBI double by Michael Rojas, plating Reynaldo Rivera.

The lead stayed with Darton State after the seventh, when it scored three runs on an error and a two-run single by Colton Thomas.

Chipola couldn't capitalize on their baserunners, stranding the bases loaded twice with two outs in the third and fourth. Chipola stranded two in the sixth as well.
