Indians Drop Second Game of DH

The Chipola Indians lost 14-6 to Walters State on Friday at Chipola College, despite a total of eight hits.

Jose Caballero did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Chipola Indians, reaching base two times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the first inning.

Walters State was sparked by Colie Currie and Braxton Brinkley, who teamed up for six hits and seven RBIs.

The game's last lead went to Walters State thanks to a first inning rally that saw seven runs cross the plate on a groundout by Reed Hayes and five singles.

Walters State built upon its lead with four runs in the fifth. The inning got off to a hot start when Brinkley homered, scoring Jason Costa. That was followed up by Hayes' double, plating Lucas Ledford and Currie.

A two-run fifth inning helped bring the Chipola Indians within seven. An RBI double by Michael Rojas and a sacrifice fly by Michael Hickman sparked the Chipola Indians' rally. The Chipola Indians threat came to an end when Nile Ball finally got Te'Kwaan Whyte to ground out.

The Chipola Indians scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to cut their deficit to eight. A fielder's choice fueled the Chipola Indians' comeback. Walters State closed the game out when Ball got Whyte to.
