Kevin Santa's single propels Chipola past Broward, 8-5

Four first-inning runs helped Chipola to an 8-5 win over Broward at Joker Marchant Stadium on Saturday. 

Chipola scored in the first on an RBI single by Kevin Santa, an RBI double by Gunnar McNeill, a sacrifice fly by Andrew DiLacqua, and an RBI single by Tyler Biggs

Santa racked up three RBIs on three hits for Chipola. 

Adonis Hernandez recorded the win for Chipola. He allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings. Hernandez struck out five, walked three and gave up five hits. 

Leonel Suarez was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out three. 

Chipola piled on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Santa homered, scoring Jay Estes to start the inning. That was followed up by McNeill's solo blast. 

Broward scored two runs in the top of the fifth to cut its deficit to five. A two-run home run by Rayden Sierra triggered Broward's comeback. Hernandez ended the inning by getting Tyler Frichter to fly out. 

A one-run seventh inning helped bring Broward within five. A sacrifice fly by Alvin Swoope set off Broward rally. Chipola stopped the rally after Anthony Burke got Frichter to strike out. 

Two runs in the top of the eighth helped Broward close its deficit to 8-5. A two-run single by Rayden Sierra gave Broward life. But, Anthony Burke got Jon Spada to strike out to end the inning.
