Chipola loses 9-4 to Darton

Lazaro Rivera did all he could to give Chipola a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Darton, as Chipola lost 9-4 at Albany, GA on Friday. 

Rivera led Chipola's offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first inning and homered in the eighth inning. 

Eric Henderson recorded the win for Darton. He pitched three shutout innings. Henderson struck out two, walked one and gave up one hit. 

Jeffrey Harding took the loss for Chipola. He lasted just two innings, walked four, struck out four, and allowed two runs. 

Darton never trailed after scoring two runs in the second on an RBI double by Kendall Herron

It didn't take long for Darton to respond as it scored two runs of its own in the fourth. Darton scored on a bases loaded walk by Adonis Hernandez and a passed ball. 

Darton got two-run rallies in the fifth inning and the sixth. In the fifth, Darton scored on an RBI single by Tyler Morris, scoring Cody Ilgenfritz

After pushing across one run in the top of the sixth, Chipola faced just a 7-2 deficit. A solo home run by Kevin Santa sparked Chipola's rally. Darton stopped the rally after Rabon Martin got Gunnar McNeill to ground out. 

Darton scored two runs of its own in the sixth. Darton scored on a two-run double by William Golden

After pushing across one run in the top of the eighth, Chipola faced just a 9-3 deficit. A solo home run by Rivera fueled Chipola's comeback. But, Sterling Sharp got McNeill to to end the inning. 

One run in the top of the ninth helped Chipola close its deficit to 9-4. A sacrifice fly by Jesse Strickland set off Chipola rally. Taylor Ferringer ended the game by getting Rivera to fly out.
