Chipola 8 strikeouts from Jeffrey Harding, win 7-4 over Northwest Florida

An impressive effort by Jeffrey Harding carried Chipola to a 7-4 win over Northwest Florida on Friday at Marianna, FL.

Harding held Northwest Florida scoreless for 7 2/3 innings. Harding struck out eight and allowed one walk and four hits.

Lazaro Rivera pushed Chipola ahead, in the sixth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. Jacky Miles, Jr. singled to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to third on a double by Kevin Santa

Maurice Cooley had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He tripled in the seventh inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Miles, Jr., Cooley and Santa helped lead Chipola. They combined for six hits and three RBIs.

Will Luft was charged with the loss. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out six, and allowed two runs.

Chipola built upon its lead with four runs in the seventh. Tyler Biggs's single got things going, scoring Cooley. That was followed up by Santa's triple, scoring Biggs and Miles, Jr.

After pushing across four runs in the top of the eighth, Northwest Florida faced just a 6-4 deficit. A two-run home run by Mack Hathcock and a two-run double by Jarren Pickney sparked Northwest Florida's rally. Finally, Gunnar McNeill induced an inning-ending ground out from Shawn Feltner.
