Chipola seize victory thanks to late three-run blast, drop Gulf Coast 7-4

Chipola and Gulf Coast exchanged the lead four times on Friday, but Chipola ended up on top with a 7-4 win over Gulf Coast. 

Chipola finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. Chipola went up for good on a three-run home run by Maurice Cooley off West Covington, scoring Gunnar McNeill and Isiah Gilliam

Chipola hit four home runs in the win. Additional home runs for Chipola came when McNeill homered in the second inning, Jay Estes homered in the fourth inning, and Lazaro Rivera homered in the ninth inning. 

Cooley racked up four RBIs on one hit for Chipola. 

 Adonis Hernandez got the win in relief for Chipola. Hernandez pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run. 

Covington ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed five runs.

In the top of the second, Chipola grabbed the early lead, 1-0. A solo home run by McNeill started the inning off.

Chipola pushed across one run in both the seventh inning and the ninth. In the seventh, Chipola scored on a walk by Cooley, scoring Kevin Santa
