Chipola survives Gulf Coast 7-2 thanks to Tyler Biggs's late-game heroics

Tyler Biggs drove in the go-ahead run to give Chipola the lead in the sixth inning, as Chipola hung on to beat Gulf Coast 7-2 on Wednesday.

Gunnar McNeill singled to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to second on a single by Maurice Cooley.

Lazaro Rivera racked up two RBIs on three hits for Chipola. He singled in the first, fifth, and eighth innings.

Gulf Coast couldn't get anything going as long as McNeill was on the hill. McNeill held Gulf Coast hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Jeffrey Harding got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered seven hits.

Adam Bleday was charged with the loss. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.

Chipola jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Rivera kicked things off for Chipola with a single. A passed ball then moved Rivera from first to second. Isiah Gilliam singled, plating Rivera.

Chipola tacked on another three runs in the eighth. The inning looked promising, as Rivera singled, plating Culver Lamb and Kevin Santa to kick things off. That was followed up by Jay Estes's single, scoring Rivera.
