Chipola uses big eighth inning to beat Pensacola, 11-1

Chipola beats Pensacola 11-1 in eight innings on Friday at Pensacola, FL after a six-run explosion in the eighth inning. 

Chipola scored in the eighth on a two-run double by Jesse Strickland, a sacrifice fly by Kevin Santa, a two-run double by Isiah Gilliam, and an RBI single by Gunnar McNeill

McNeill racked up two RBIs on three hits for Chipola. 

Culver Lamb was a workhorse on the rubber while bagging the win for Chipola. Lamb pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out five. 

Thomas Huston ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed five runs. 

Chipola jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Gilliam singled, scoring Lazaro Rivera after a double by Rivera got things started. 

Chipola never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring one run on an RBI single by Rivera. 

Chipola built upon its lead with three runs in the sixth. A solo blast by McNeill ignited the offense,. That was followed up by Tyler Biggs's single, bringing home Maurice Cooley.
