Chipola bested by Northwest Florida comeback, 13-11

Chipola led by eight runs in the third inning, but Northwest Florida put together a furious comeback to steal the victory, 13-11, on Saturday at Niceville, FL.

Maurice Cooley racked up two RBIs on three hits for Chipola. He singled in the first and third innings and homered in the fourth inning.

Corderias Dorsey got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered two hits.

Northwest Florida's Aaron Palmer, Mack Hathcock, Dakota Dean and Tanner Halstead combined for nine hits and eight RBIs.

Tevelle Clark couldn't get it done on the mound for Chipola, taking a loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

Northwest Florida closer Shawn Feltner put away the final three outs to record the save.

In the top of the first, Chipola grabbed the early lead, 4-0. A double by Lazaro Rivera, bringing home Kevin Santa started the inning off. Chipola then tacked on more runs when Rivera scored on an RBI double by Isiah Gilliam, Estes scored on a sacrifice fly by Gunnar McNeill, and Gilliam scored on an RBI single by Cooley.

Northwest Florida got one-run rallies in the first inning and the seventh. In the first, Northwest Florida scored on an RBI double by Dean, scoring Jarren Pickney.

Northwest Florida went up for good in the third, scoring 11 runs on an error and six singles.

One run in the top of the fourth helped Chipola close its deficit to 12-10. A solo home run by Cooley fueled Chipola's comeback. Finally, Dorsey got Santa to fly out to end the threat.

After pushing across one run in the top of the ninth, Chipola faced just a 13-11 deficit. A sacrifice fly by Jack Bell set off Chipola rally. Feltner ended the game by getting Santa to ground out.
