Early lead not enough for Chipola, drop 3-2 decision to State College of Florida

Chipola built an early edge on Friday, but State College of Florida roared back to steal a 3-2 victory at Bradenton, FL. 

While Chipola led until the eighth inning, State College of Florida worked its way back and took the lead on an error. 

Jeffrey Harding handled State College of Florida's lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Harding allowed no earned runs on three hits and three walks over five innings. 

Scott Kelly got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He pitched two shutout innings. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered no hits. 

Jo Jo Durden ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run. 

State College of Florida closer Ronny Orta put away the final three outs to record the save. 

The top of the second saw Chipola take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Tyler Biggs, bringing home Gunnar McNeill started the inning off. 

State College of Florida survived Chipola's surge and put up one run of its own in the second. State College of Florida scored on a fielder's choice. 

The lead stayed with State College of Florida after the eighth, when it scored one run on an error.
