Chipola College baseball continued in tournament action with a Friday double header in Las Vegas, part of this year's Coyote Slugout hosted by the College of Southern Nevada.

In game one, an outstanding outing on the mound by sophomore Taylor Lewis paced the Indians to an 8-0 shutout over Salt Lake City College. Lewis threw six innings, giving up no runs on three hits, one walk, one error behind him, while striking out 10.

Michael Minacci came on to close out the final three innings, keeping Salt Lake off the board, issuing three walks and allowing no hits.

Offensively, it was sophomore Danny Mars leading the Indians, going three-for-five with two RBIs, followed by Cody Lanford, Kevin Santa, Josh Merrigan and Chase Scott, all with two hits.

Game two pitted the Indians in a repeat of Thursday night's action against CSN. Chipola won that contest 9-4 after giving up 16 free passes in walks and hit batters, but on Friday night the Indians saw the tables turn and fell 10-0 in five innings.

Tucker Simpson got the starting nod and took the loss, after facing only three batters before leaving with an injury.  Adonis Hernandez came on to close the game.

Errors and a few key hits by CSN plagued the Indians and offensively they could not put together a string of hits.

A triple by Danny Mars and a single by Ian Rice was the only offense produced by the Indians.

Chipola defeated Colorado Northwestern 12-1 in five innings as the Indians improved to 10-2 on the season.
